College Student Village

A Midwest college approached TSI in the summer of 2020 to help with a grand vision of expanding the college campus and placing a flag in the ground as a forward-thinking housing development that would attract student talent from far and wide—and they wanted to build it out of shipping containers! We jumped in and proposed a hybrid construction of six student housing structures that would house a total of 125 students. Additionally, the design included a dining hall for the students living in the container village, including lounge and co-working spaces above the commercial kitchen. This model can be used for other college campuses that seek to add an innovative and sustainable flair to a student housing expansion.
